Nutri-Defense Packets How does Nutri-Defense work? Nutri-Defense works by binding up excess nutrients, feeding Pond-Clear bacteria and polishing pond water. After Nutri-Defense has bound up the excess nutrients, the nutrients sink to the bottom, out of the water column. It is at this stage that Pond-Clear is able to further break the nutrients down, reducing the chance of future growth. Nutri-Defense allows you to "manage the nutrients" so you can manage water clarity. When to apply Apply Nutri-Defense as needed. Works best when used before Pond-Clear early in the season before or 1-2 weeks after a chemical application. No water use restrictions. Note: When using Nutri-Defense as a flocculent to remove suspended particulate out of your water column, dissolve in water and spray evenly across the pond's surface.
